Our Goals and Policies
Community Recycling's primary objective is for our process to incorporate best international practice to reduce environmental impact with regard to sustainability, avoidance of environmental pollution and finally Data protection.
This is to be achieved by addressing the following objectives:
1. Collection of systems and peripherals in bulk minimising the operational impact on the environment. Have the product collected in the appropriate quantity. In general terms this means a bulk collection, as this will be more environmentally efficient in terms of transport impact per item than having smaller quantities delivered more often.
2. Re-use rather than recycling. Our second goal is to re-use equipment rather than recycle it. focussing on community groups and clubs. We promise that a minimum of 10% of all equipment recieved will be recycled into the community at no cost.
3. Data disposal. All data will be removed from memory devices before disposal. We can provide documented evidence that this has occurred. However, if there is a bad sector on the hard drive that the software is unable to access, certification that the drive has been cleansed will not be produced. Other precautions (such as physical destruction) can then be taken to ensure the data cannot be recovered and this will be subsequently reported.
4. Operate within current legislation. We shall comply in all material respects with applicable environmental laws and regulations in force from time to time in relation to the provision of our services. Where the provisions of any such legislation are implemented by the use of voluntary agreements or codes of practice, Community Recycling Ltd shall comply with such agreements or codes of practices as if they were incorporated into New Zealand law.
